This is a reproduction of a Civil War/Victorian 1860's era ball gown. This dress is constructed from authentic period patterns (based on actual garments from the period). This two piece dress would be perfectly for any formal event including balls, dances and weddings.

The fabric is a beautiful and large scale plaid in black and white. The fabric is TAFFETA and has that wonderful rustling sound when you move. The bodice has adorable period correct puffed sleeves, has a drawstring/ribbon in the neckline so that it can be adjusted for a perfect fit (very period correct), and closes up the back with hooks and eyes, which is much easier on your dressing buddy than hand lacing your gown. The skirt is a very full 176 inches in circumference, and will look gorgeous when you're twirling around the dance floor. The dress is shown on a dress form with a bust measurement of 42 inches and a waist measurement of 34 inches. The dress is displayed over a 6-bone hoopskirt, which is not included. The skirt measures 41 inches at the center front from waist to the bottom and is hemmed with a 2 1/2 inch deep hem. This dress could easily be lengthened 1 1/2 inches. The skirt is slightly longer in the back. This is a period correct method for hemming as it allows the skirt to fall gracefully over the hips and not ride up in the back. The skirt fastens in the back with a hook and bar closure.
