This is a reproduction of a Civil War/Victorian 1860's era day dress, which has been reproduced using authentic period patterns. Made of a lovely blue and green plaid in 100% cotton. It is newly sewn by me. The bodice is fully lined. The skirt features insets of solid blue, and there is a matching blue ruffle down the edge of each of the coat style sleeves. This dress would be perfectly at home around the campsite as a work dress/camp dress, but is nice enough for church on Sunday, an afternoon tea, or a stroll around the shops.

This dress has vintage buttons and an antique hand crocheted lace collar in ecru (natural color). The front of the dress is secured with hand-sewn hook and eye fasteners, has a period-correct dog-leg closure (the skirt waist fastens with a hook and bar closure), and is all in one piece.

The dress is shown on a dress form with a bust measurement of 42 inches and a waist measurement of 32 inches. The dress is displayed over a 6-bone hoopskirt, which is not included. The skirt measures 42 inches at the center front from waist to the hem. This dress is hemmed, and is slightly longer in the back to give a more graceful appearance. This is a period correct method for hemming a dress of this type as it allows the skirt to fall gracefully over the hips and not ride up in the back. The skirt has a generous 160 inch sweep.

*** Only 100% cotton has been used to give breathability to the fabric in hot weather. All fabric was pre-washed before this outfit was made so that no shrinkage should occur.
