This is a lovely reproduction
of a Civil War/Victorian 1860's era bonnet. This bonnet is newly sewn by me and is constructed from authentic period patterns (based on actual garments from the period). This lovely bonnet will be the crowning touch to your ensemble.
What is the difference between a bonnet and a
hat? A hat is a head covering to be worn outside. A bonnet is a hat
with strings that tie under the chin.
The fabric on this bonnet is beautiful deep
purple fabric with a silky feel and a light crinkle texture.
It is edged in black braid that is threaded with black velvet ribbon.
On each side, is an adorable black tassle and a reproduction button in
the shape of a flower. It ties with 1 1/2" wide black satin ribbons
that are 24 inches long and have a fishtail cut on the ends.
The bonnet is constructed on a wire frame so that if it
becomes misshapen when being stored or transported to or from an event,
it is very easy to reshape it.
The
bonnet is lined with 100% cotton muslin to minimize slippage on your
hair. This hat is completely hand made, so no two are ever the same.
