~ Elegant Civil War / Victorian 2 Piece Day Dress - SASS! ~

You are bidding on a reproduction of a Civil War/Victorian era day dress. This dress is newly sewn by me. This two piece dress would be perfectly for church on Sunday, an afternoon tea, or a stroll around the shops.

The fabric is a beautiful 100% cotton soft coral trimmed in black braid. The fabric itself has tiny woven in flowers in the same color, which give this a very luxurious appearance. The dress is shown on a dress form with a bust measurement of 48 inches and a waist measurement of 44 inches. It will easily accomodate a larger bust measurement of 52 inches. The dress is displayed over a 6-bone hoopskirt, which is not included. The skirt measures 42 inches at the center front from waist to the hem. This dress is hemmed, and is slightly longer in the back to give a more graceful appearance. This is a period correct method for hemming a dress of this type as it allows the skirt to fall gracefully over the hips and not ride up in the back. The skirt has a generous 238 inch sweep. This extra full skirt will help to balance the fuller figure.

The bodice closes with hand sewn hooks and eyes. The frog closures on the bodice are fully functional, but are a secondary means of keeping the bodice secure with the hooks and eyes being the primary means. The bodice is fully lined in 100% cotton, including the sleeves, so that when your sleeves fall open (split style pagoda sleeves), only the nice lining fabric shows.

The skirt is accented with 2 rows of beautiful black braid. It has a center back hook and bar closure.

*** Only 100% cotton has been used to give breathability to the fabric in hot weather. All fabric was pre-washed before this outfit was made so that no shrinkage should occur.
